GPSS BUSINESS GROWTH TOOLKIT

Build the experience
people remember.

A practical Google and Yelp reputation toolkit: fair review practices, customer follow-up copy, a printable Google QR card, and the GPSS services that help strengthen the customer experience behind your reputation.

The five-star goal is a five-star experience.Reviews must stay honest and voluntary. Customers choose their own rating; GPSS cannot promise a score or control which reviews a platform recommends.

ONE SERVICE STANDARD · PLATFORM-SPECIFIC PRACTICES

Be consistent with customers.
Respect each platform.

Every customer deserves the same quality of service and follow-up. A Google request and a Yelp presence require different rules.

GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE

Invite honest feedback from all real customers.

Google allows businesses to ask customers to share genuine experiences without incentives or pressure. A Google review link or QR code can be included in receipts or thank-you messages.

  • Invite every real customer equallyAfter a completed purchase or service, send the same optional, neutral invitation. Never screen customers by satisfaction or ask only people likely to give high ratings.
  • Make it easy, never pressuredUse your Google review link in a follow-up message, receipt, or a clearly optional QR card. Do not make the request while a customer is on the premises or require them to write anything.
  • Keep reviews independentDo not offer discounts, gifts, payment, points, drawings, or other benefits for a review. Do not ask anyone to change or remove a review in exchange for something.
  • Respond with careThank reviewers, address concerns calmly, and move account-specific details to a private channel. Use feedback to improve the service itself.

YELP

Make your page useful. Let reviews happen organically.

Yelp’s policy is different: businesses should not ask anyone to review them. The Yelp playbook here focuses on accurate business information, memorable service, and professional responses.

  • Do not solicit Yelp reviewsYelp asks businesses not to ask customers, mailing-list subscribers, friends, family, or anyone else for reviews. Do not put a Yelp review request or QR code on cards, receipts, emails, surveys, or follow-up messages.
  • Build a complete, useful business pageKeep your hours, service area, categories, contact information, photos, and business description accurate so people can find and understand the business.
  • Let customer advocacy be organicFocus on a consistent customer experience. Customers can choose to share their experience on Yelp without a request, prompt, reward, or review funnel from the business.
  • Handle feedback professionallyMonitor your public presence and respond calmly where available. Do not disclose private customer information or ask someone to edit or remove a review.
Yelp’s “Don’t Ask for Reviews” policy ↗

Never use a happy/unhappy survey to decide who receives a public review link. Do not ask for five stars, write customer reviews for them, purchase reviews, or reward reviews. Policy pages can change; follow the current platform rules.

A REAL, READY-TO-PRINT ASSET

Make your Google review card.

Paste the Google review link from the business’s own Google Business Profile. GPSS creates a unique QR code from that link; the business can edit the invitation and print the card.

Get the review link from your Google Business Profile. This card only links to Google; GPSS does not collect or store the link you enter.

Yelp-safe service follow-up

Use the Google scripts only with customers who had a genuine, completed experience. Never condition service, a benefit, or follow-up on leaving a review.

A ROUTINE FOR EVERY CUSTOMER

Close the service loop
before you chase a rating.

Review activity is strongest when it reflects the real customer experience. Use the same operating routine for every completed job.

  1. Set expectationsConfirm the scope, timing, price, and next update before work begins.
  2. Deliver and verifyCheck completion with the customer and resolve outstanding issues.
  3. Follow up consistentlyUse the same service follow-up for every customer. For Google, you may include an optional, neutral review invitation. Do not request Yelp reviews.
  4. Learn and improveRecord recurring service issues, response time, repeat business, inquiries, and completed sales. Do not treat a review count or star average as the full measure of success.
